Hi! My name is Steve, and I live in Richmond, Virginia, with my wife, our three teenage boys, and a golden retriever. We moved south from New Jersey in the spring of 2011 and quickly fell in love with Virginia.
I’ve always loved writing, from stories and poems in school to annual Christmas letters as an adult. Somewhere along the way life got busy, but in August, 2009, I began blogging at MyBoys3 as my attempt to capture some of the daily excitement and trials that come with raising three growing boys.
In 2013, my made-up bedtime tales grew into books, and The Virginia Mysteries were born. The middle grade stories are for kids ages 7-12 and follow brothers Sam and Derek and their friend Caitlin on adventures with a twist of history mixed in. Summer of the Woods, Mystery on Church Hill, Ghosts of Belle Isle, Secret of the Staircase, Midnight at the Mansion, Shadows at Jamestown, Spies at Mount Vernon, Escape from Monticello, Pictures at the Protest, Pirates on the Bay, and Danger on the Stage are available in hardcover, paperback, Kindle, and audiobook versions.
Brother Wars is a three-book middle grade series which follows two other brothers, Harry and Randy (yes, there’s a theme here), who as you may have guessed, don’t get along. Final Kingdom is a fast-paced sci-fi trilogy for ages 10+. The Missing, The Recruit, and The Bridge are available in Kindle, paperback, hardcover, and audio.
I grew up in rural northwestern New Jersey, studied political science and business in central Pennsylvania, worked briefly as a research writer in the PA state legislature, and then for over 20 years in medical education sales for a Manhattan-based e-healthcare company. From 2018 to 2022, I focused full-time on writing and have reached nearly half a million books sold. When not writing, I enjoy cycling, hiking, kayaking, the New York Yankees, afternoon naps, and taking away my kids’ screen time.
You may be interested to hear an interview I gave with Virginia Voice where I speak about my writing and author career. If you’re an aspiring writer, here are some links on craft and publishing that could be helpful.
Books I read as a kid remain some of my favorites: Where the Red Fern Grows, The Adventures of Tom Sawyer, Bridge to Terabithia, and the Chronicles of Narnia series.
I hope you enjoy the adventures – both real and imagined. I’d love to come speak at your school for an author visit! You can find me on email, Facebook, Instagram or Twitter.
Thanks for visiting!
